1. Cheeseburger

Cheeseburger Birthplace- Pasadena, Ca

Lionel Sternberger is reputed to have introduced the cheeseburger in 1926 at the age of 16. He was working as a fry cook at his father’s Pasadena, California sandwich shop, “The Rite Spot”, and experimentally dropped a slab of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger. The Pasadena Museum of History has a 1920s-era menu from The Rite Spot in Pasadena where the cheeseburger was invented.

The National Cheeseburger Week is celebrated every year on January 17-23.

2. Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza – Chicago

In 1943, Ike Sewell and Ric Riccardo had opened Pizzeria Uno in Chicago, serving a new variety of pizza in a deeper dish. The pizza is baked in a pan layered with cheese, meat filling, vegetables, and sauce. The dish is not just popular in Chicago, but all over the world.

The National Deep Dish Pizza Day is celebrated every year on April 5th

3. Apple Pie – National Favorite

Apple pie can be made with many different sorts of apples. The more popular cooking apples include Braeburn, GalaCortland, Bramley, EmpireNorthern SpyGranny Smith, and McIntosh.  The fruit for the pie can be fresh, canned, or reconstituted from dried apples. The filling generally includes sugarbutter, and cinnamon.

The National Apple Pie day is celebrated every year on May 13th.

4. New England Lobster Roll – Maine

The lobster roll is a Maine specialty consisting of cooked lobster meat with melted butter and placed into long hot dog rolls. The sandwich might include lettuce, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Traditional accompaniments include potato chips or French fries on the side.

The National Lobster Day is celebrated every year on September 25th.

5. Key Lime Pie – Key West, Florida

Key Lime Pie originated in Key West, Florida in the 1850’s by the local residents referred to as “Conchs”. The dessert is a simple recipe of sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, graham cracker crust, and Key limes with variations of meringue or whipped cream on top.

The National Key Lime Pie day is celebrated every year on September 26th.

6. Boudin Sourdough French Bread – San Francisco

ISIDORE BOUDIN came to San Francisco in 1849, during the Gold Rush years, with the skill of a French baker. He combined his traditional French baking with the sourdough to produce the first loaf of San Francisco sourdough French bread, with four simple ingredients: flour, water, salt, and dough, resulting in the crusty, tangy bread—unique to San Francisco.

The National Sourdough Bread Day is celebrated every year on April 1st.

7. Corn Bread – Native American Cuisine

Corn Bread –  Corn has been a staple ingredient among the Native Americans, who created the first version of what is today known as cornbread. A simple receipt of cornmeal, flour, baking powder, Kosher salt, eggs, buttermilk make up the tasty American favorite. . Americans take cornbread with meat, stew, or salad.

The National Cornbread Festival has been held in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee since 1997, during the last full weekend in April.

9. Wild Alaskan Salmon Fish

The USA is considered as the Home of Salmon Fish. Salmon was abundant on both the East and West coasts of America. The waters of the Northwest are particularly abundant with salmon. Various types of recipes with Salmon fish are very common in American dinners. Americans love it.  The best locations are typically the Kenai River, Russian River, Kodiak Island, and Kasilof River.

The National Salmon Day is celebrated every year on October 8th.

10.  Barbecue/BBQ

BBQ has become a staple in American cuisine. In America, barbecue (or BBQ) originated in the late 1800s during Western cattle drives. It seems as if every state in the U.S. has its own versions of barbecue, there are five r main styles in which the cooking method evolved: North Carolina, South Carolina, Memphis, Texas, and Kansas City barbecue. Each of these is different in its own way down to the sauces they use. You can’t beat a good potato salad or a helping of cornbread to complete a traditional American BBQ!

The National Barbecue day is celebrated every year on May 16th.
